SLAVE TO THE SQUAREWAVE - "BIG CHANGE"
It's odd that an album that throws back to 1980s new wave is called "Big Change". But yet, the title seems appropriate. Musicians today take themselves way too seriously. While the highschool emo kids are putting on eyeliner and crying themselves to sleep SLAVE TO THE SQUAREWAVE is producing music that is just about one thing - fun!
From start to finish "BIG CHANGE" pumps with energy and gets the body movin'. The opening track "Sinners of Saint Avenue" is a pop/electronic mix, but the remainder of the guitar-driven album stradles the line between disco and techno.
The band won't have any trouble finding fans; their music encourages people to shake their booties. The largest challenge SLAVE TO THE SQUAREWAVE will face is finding bands to tour with them, as there is nothing on the scene right right now that sounds like them. If SLAVE TO THE SQUAREWAVE came out 20 years ago they would be remembered fondly like DURAN DURAN or DEVO.
