With Father's Day on June 15th we here at Beer.com are gearing up for the day we get to visit our fathers, give him his annual "new tie" and have a nice dinner that he'll appreciate (especially if you cook him a mean steak [as opposed to a nice steak]).
We know that every Dad out there can't be as awesome as yours. After all, the man raised you, let you have your first drink of beer, and eventually gave you "the sex talk". We've been subjected to good and bad Dads on TV through the years, so we're splitting this week's 6-pack up: We're doing the Top 3 BEST Dads, and the Bottom 3 WORST Dads on TV.
The Best
Heathcliff Huxtable
Played by the immortal Bill Cosby on The Cosby Show. Heath was a father of 5, pediatrician, and husband of the smokin' (but probably looser than an old sock thanks to the 5 kids) hot Clair Huxtable. He was known for his great parenting skills and great advice.

From 1984 to 1992, MILLIONS of us across the world tuned in to watch Heath dispense his amazing advice and assist his children in growing up. We all wish he was our father, if not for the constant references to Jell-O Pudding and Kodak Cameras.
Danny Tanner
Played by the awesome Bob Saget on Full House. Danny Tanner, widower and father of D.J, Stephanie, and Michelle Tanner, was our afternoon father from 1992 - 1995, where we watched him overcome the grief for his wife's death and date again, while watching his daughters grow up before his very eyes.

With the assistance of his brother-in-law Jesse and best friend Joey, he raised a Full House of girls and helped us grow up through the 90s. Living in a house full of girls wouldn't be awesome, and Kimmy Gibler coming over every day would wear on our nerves, but who wouldn't want Danny Tanner as a father??
Jack Bauer
Played by Kiefer Sutherland on 24. Husband of Teri Bauer and father of Kim Bauer, Jack is undeniably the baddest mofo in the television universe. He's stopped terrorists, nuclear war, and threats to himself and his family. It's always a sign of good parenting when your Dad won't hesitate to use lethal force to protect you. Bashing terrorists is the new "Sweet 16" party.

For seven "days" we've watched Jack Bauer have pretty much the worst week of his life, so if that's not worth of one kick-ass Father's day, what is? And what else would be more kick-ass then having ELISHA CUTHBERT as a fake-daughter. Because if she were your real daughter, that would get awkward.
The Worst
Homer Simpson
Voiced by Dan Castellaneta on The Simpsons. Homer, the most well-known Father in all of TV-dom, is the husband of Marge Simpson, and father of Maggie, Bart, and Lisa. Homer has shown us his parenting "skills" for 19 seasons - 420 episodes - and has failed to prove to anyone that he's qualified to have children at all (in fact he actually sang he'd never win Father Of The Year). From constantly throttling his son, to forgetting his youngest daughter's name, to never appreciating his middle child, Homer proves week in and week out that he's not even close to being a good Father.

He's shown that he's not completely inept when it comes to fathering - he has his office at work plastered with pictures of Maggie, he provides a constant source of adventure for Bart, and he reminds Lisa that being the smartest person in the world doesn't make you the happiest. Homer, try as you might, we salute you!
Tim Taylor
Played by Tim Allen on Home Improvement. Tim is the husband of Jill Taylor, and father of the three boys Brad, Randy, and Mark Taylor. Constantly putting himself and his family in harm for the sake of Home Improvement or MORE POWER, Tim's not winning any "#1 Father" mugs for Fathers' Day. Verging on suicidal, Tim has done everything from glue his head to a table to shatter every window in the house - not exactly the safest home to be growing up in.

Along with the destructive nature of Tim Taylor, he's also been shown to be very insulting - making fun of family, friends, and co-worker Al Borland. As if you didn't get called fat enough in High School, imagine growing up in THAT household...
Red Foreman
Played by Kurtwood Smith on That 70s Show. Reginald "Red" Foreman is the husband of Kitty Foreman and father of Eric and Laurie Foreman. A former Navy man, Red embodies every hard-assed father figure we've ever seen - from bosses to teachers. He's constantly favoring his (slutty) daughter Laurie over his son Eric whom he never hesitates to call a Dumb-Ass. How's that for encouraging?
| In most cases we know our Dads give us tough love to motivate us, but in the case of Red we can't help but think he's just being a dick. But on the other hand, he's also told his son that if "You ever tell me you love me, my heart will explode". So while he's not Grade-A Dad, he's not a horrible guy after all. | |
